This quick guide explains what the different check statuses mean and how they relate to billing.
Candidate
The check has been sent, but the candidate hasn’t submitted their information yet (like referee details or ID documents).
- If you’re on a prepaid credit plan, a credit is used at this stage.
- If the candidate doesn’t go ahead and the check is cancelled, we’ll return the credit.
In Progress
The candidate has submitted their information - referee details, visa, passport or other documents.
From this point, the check is officially In Progress and charges apply. This applies even if the check is later cancelled.
- This is the trigger point for charges if you’re not using a prepaid credit plan.
- If you are using credits, the credit is now considered used and can’t be refunded.
Completed
The check has been fully processed and results are ready.
Cancelled
The check has been Cancelled.
- If it was still sitting in “Candidate” status and no information was submitted, no charge applies. Any used credits will be returned if applicable.
- If the candidate had already submitted details and the check had moved to “In Progress,” the charge still applies.
- We know things don’t always go to plan. If a check was started by mistake, just get in touch. Our support team will review your request, and cancellations can be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
